Anticipated Return 2021/2022

About EarthTones

Since its onset in 2000, EarthTones has quickly grown into the largest annual cross-discipline talent shows at the University of Toronto. Since UTIHP Student Organization has moved to an online platform for the 2020/2021 year, EarthTones will not continue. We anticipate the return will be during the 2021/2022 academic year.

Enthusiastic students and staff of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto founded the EarthTones Benefit Concert with a mission to support aid initiatives for children throughout the world. Since then, the EarthTones Benefit Concert has become an esteemed annual event gathering both students and faculty members of all Faculties of Health Professionals (Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and more). Together, these talented individuals demonstrate their musical talents in support of a cause.

Unfortunately the event scheduled for March 3rd, at Spadina Theatre had to be cancelled. Our beneficiary of the year is Hemoglobal!

Hemoglobal is a Canadian charity founded by Dr. Nancy Olivieri and Professor David Weatherall dedicated to improving the lives of children with blood disorders in Asia.

Driven by the principle that birthplace or family income should not determine the life or death of a child, the work of Hemoglobal is dedicated in giving all children affected with a blood disorder the opportunity to obtain care and regular consultations from dedicated experts. Hemoglobal also focuses on optimizing existing treatment by conducting extensive research on blood disorders. Over the past years, Hemoglobal has pursued research in Sri Lanka on Hemoglobin E thalassaemia– an inherited disorder that is increasingly becoming a severe public health problem throughout the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. With Hemoglobal’s research, the goal is to develop effective programs for the control and management of Hemoglobin E thalassemia.

Your donation has the potential to save a life, and we would be incredibly grateful if you were able to join us in our support of this deserving organization.
